If Golden Tiger won't let you in from BC

Most problems BC players run into have nothing to do with provincial law. They are sign-up and banking issues, and they have fixes.

The registration will not go through. Check that your date of birth makes you 19 or older and that your address matches your ID exactly, including the postal code. Offshore casinos compare these details with the documents you send later, and a mismatch now becomes a frozen withdrawal later.

Your deposit is declined. BC banks, like most Canadian ones, may block gambling merchants on credit cards, and some block them on debit too. Try Interac or iDebit from the cashier before trying a second card, and do not retry the same card over and over; repeated declines can lock the payment method.

You are asked for documents you do not have. A recent utility bill or bank statement in your name works as proof of address. If you only have a digital statement, a PDF download from online banking is normally accepted.

You used a VPN. Do not. It breaks the casino's terms, and the usual outcome is a closed account with the balance held while they investigate. Live chat, which runs 24/7, is the place to sort any of this out.

What BC law says about online casinos

Under the Criminal Code, each province decides how gambling is run inside its borders. British Columbia chose a closed model. The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) conducts and manages commercial gambling, and the provincial government says it plainly on its Government of B.C. gambling page: PlayNow.com is the only legal online gambling site in B.C.

Regulation changed this year. On 13 April 2026 the modernised Gaming Control Act came into force and the Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO) took over from the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch. BCLC runs the games; the IGCO oversees compliance, enforcement, registration and integrity. Neither change opened the market: there is still no route for a private brand to be licensed for BC players, unlike in Ontario or Alberta.

The age limit is 19. The law is aimed at unauthorised operators rather than at people playing from home, and we are not aware of a BC player being charged for using an offshore site. What you give up is the provincial safety net: BCLC's GameSense programme, its self-exclusion scheme and the IGCO's oversight all stop at PlayNow's edge.

In practice, a BC player at Golden Tiger has the same experience as anyone else in Canada outside Ontario.
